Costal Authentic Solid White Oak Wooden Lobster Trap Coffee Table
This is a forth generation lobster trap. Lobstermen started to use a bigger trap, from 30” to 36”. Now the trap could catch and hold more lobsters. Next was the use of wraparound [netting] with white nylon lacing cord instead of using all laths on the sides and front to enclose the trap, and the cord replaced Head Sticks. This made the trap lighter, and required less maintenance from broken laths. Wooden traps have been used for centuries until the commercial manufacturing of vinyled wire in the 1980’s for the lobster traps we see today.
